Brothers,

It is my pleasure to announce that our brother, Michael Beard, has been named by the Speaker of the House of the Virginia General Assembly, William
J. Howell, to represent the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War as a member of the Advisory Council to the Virginia Sesquicentennial of the
American Civil War Commission.  Brother Beard is a member of the Lincoln-Cushing Camp #2, Washington, D.C., and the Irish Brigade Camp #4,

The Advisory Council will serve in a consultative capacity to the Commission to deliberate and dispose of matters directed to it by the
Commission or the Chairman, collaborate and share information to facilitate the Commission's work, respond to inquiries from the Commission, and make
recommendations as appropriate.  Brother Beard, congratulations from the Department of Maryland!  The Department of Maryland is ready to assist you!

In fraternity, charity, and loyalty,
